Design Works | Design for ACG Innovation Lab Publicity
The ACG Innovation Lab, affiliated with the School of Computer Science and Technology of North University of China, was founded in 2014. It is an undergraduate team integrating game and interactive application development, CG art design, computer vision and graphics. Since its establishment, the lab has been on the front line of digital art creation and computer vision research, and has participated in many digital art competitions and game industry exchange conferences, and won a number of awards. Currently, there are three groups in the lab: game, program and artwork.
2021 - Laboratory poster design
In 2021, for the new academic year's lab recruitment campaign, I was asked to create the year's recruitment poster. I ditched my usual poster production method and opted for a 3D model rendering.

The poster is divided into several modules. The information section consists of six interlocking and separated colour boxes, showing the awards won by the lab (red box), the graduation destinations of the seniors (green box), and the past projects; the decoration section is made up of a number of metal balls and transparent tubes running through the whole picture, and also includes a model of the main building of the North University of China on the red box and a model of a train on the bottom of the yellow box. To make the poster more aesthetically pleasing, I added multiple light sources of different colours to the transparent pipes. Multiple white surface light sources were also added to other sections to brighten up the entire space.
2023- Laboratory souvenir design
In 2023, also for the new academic year's lab recruitment campaign, I designed two souvenirs for free distribution at the event.
The first souvenir was a badge with a character pattern of the lab's poster girl, drawn by Ruan Runjing from the artwork group. I added the background and text to the character pattern and created three different colour versions of the program, game and artwork. All badges were handmade by myself using a badge machine.
The second souvenir is a laser ticket that uses the same character pattern as its base. The entire laser ticket is based on orange and sky blue colours and is complemented by a text message from the laboratory.

2024- Laboratory main vision update
The year 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the lab's founding, and to commemorate this momentous occasion, I've given the lab's logo a fresh update.
The new logo retains the fledgling bird (and possibly pigeon) motif, but has been redesigned using a low polygonal style. The new logo has an orange-yellow colour scheme, which is a continuation of the previous laser ticket design, but the sky blue colour has been removed to prevent the logo from becoming too cluttered. In addition, we have given the new logo a new interpretation: the image of a fledgling bird looking back at us shows our vision of virtual digital art creativity.
In addition to the main logo, I also designed a Vtuber-style logo, an idea that originated from the ProgrammingVTuberLogos project on GitHub. The members of the lab liked the Vtuber-style of design, so at their request I made this logo in the style of the design used in this project. the main body of the logo is the lab's name in English and the Japanese translation (as the font is a Japanese font), with the daisy bird logo and the gamepad graphic added.
2024- Laboratory 10th anniversary logo design
In addition to a new main logo for the lab's 10th anniversary, a campaign logo was designed for a series of anniversary events.
The design of the logo is based on the Chinese character for ‘ten’, showing a sparkling starburst pattern. Surrounding the starburst is a circle of water drops, like people dancing around a bonfire during a celebration, signifying our colourful anniversary celebrations. The colours remain the same orange-yellow colour scheme used in the main logo.
